WHAT THE F**K!?

WTF! I have come to the realization that cell phones are now to be considered a life sustaining necessity to be able to function in today’s society. Yes, I do have one, and guess what? I use it to make occasional necessary phone calls. I like the idea of having one for emergency situations, key word emergency. Now it seems that if someone under the age of 35 does not have one in constant use it’s a mortal sin and said non-user should be publicly stoned to death, or at least till their minutes run out. When I have someone in to speak to me in the office and they sit in front of my desk texting, giggling like a 11 year old girl and not responding to ACTUAL human conversation I feel the urge to grab their phone, stomp it to pieces and then shove all remaining parts up their ass..all at once. Am I a prude, no, just someone that was raised to respect the people around them and also how to participate in the soon to be long lost art of ‘conversation’, the person to person, face to face stuff ya know!? Gotta run, my phone is ringing..the one with the archaic phone line that plugs into the wall…remember those?

DID YOU KNOW.........?

DID YOU KNOW?

As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view ... it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?

As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments Engraved on each lower portion of each door.

DID YOU KNOW?

As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C.

DID YOU KNOW?

James Madison, the fourth president, known as 'The Father of Our Constitution' made the following statement: 'We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.'

DID YOU KNOW?

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

DID YOU KNOW?

Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies.

DID YOU KNOW?

Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law an oligarchy; the rule of few over many.

How then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 232 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

Lets put it around the world and let the world see and remember what this great country was built on.

Hold On Folks

A lot of hype has been give recently about our freedoms and how they are eroding before our eyes. Its not just under the present administration folks, this crap has been happening for decades! We are, and have been dealing with a government that has become too big for it’s crap filled britches. Warmongers to bleeding heart meadow muffins that want to save the gay-baby-transgendered-humbacked whales with taxpayer’s monies. Too bad we can’t teach good old fashion common sense starting in kindergarten thru someone’s doctorate studies. But now that I think of it, Washington operating with common sense…what a numma I am! Now I am not talking about some tea party, I am not talking about some love peace and patchouli fest to make this one big happy family world. It is not going to happen folks, telling the dudes in the Middle East (These guys been offing each other since before Christ went to pre-school!) to drop their guns, hold hands, sing Kumbaya and wear flowers in their hair…nope, won’t work. Been there back in the late 60 and 70s, its amazing with what I witnessed there is any gray matter working in the professionals of today. And then we have the right wing “Kill them all and let God sort them out” groups….scary is all I will say. So in a nutshell, be aware is the best thing folks, watch what is happening, don’t sit around with blinders on and think we will be taken care of without expressing your fears and concerns, but don’t go out with a shopping list of goodies that go ‘boom’ either. Stay alert and retain your rights! Another Downeast wisdom-gram.

Snippets Of Real Maine Wisdom

Keep skunks and bankers at a distance..

Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads.

Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.

Don 't judge folks by their relatives.

Don 't interfere with somethin' that ain't bothering you none.

Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.

And finally:

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. -- Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you..

NO (Well Some) RESERVATIONS

Well, we watched Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations on the Travel Channel. This episode was on his visit to Maine which came about when one of his cameramen who was from Milo recommended the visit. It was, interesting. They started out in the other Maine, you know “Boston North” or Portland as they call it down there. Hmmmm, I am still trying to figure out what the hell they were eating down there. The implants are trying to civilize us…...run quick folks before it happens. Anywho, Bourdain seemed to like what they served him, of course he has eaten everything, everywhere so that accounts for his questionable tastes. They moved up the coast to Rockland and wow..not much different than Portland….except for the curmudgeon cook in the shack cooking real food and acting all crazy…..getting closer Tony..not quite there yet. Well, off to Milo they go, ending up at a Bean Suppa. OK, since when do they serve beer at local bean suppers?! Com’on Bourdain, can’t even go to a Bean Supper with out catching a buzz!? Then they went to visit some crazy ass uncle of the camera man..blowing the hell out of snowmen with shotguns and high powered rifles..now we’ re talking about Mainers! Well they ended up eating some moose and bear and whatever else dropped out of the traps and that was about it. Of course they had the snippets of “true” Mainers interjecting some local wisdom and wit..mostly put on accents, you don’t fool a real Mainer with a fake accent bub. On a scale of 1-10..oh possibly a 5.324.

ORCHID LOUNGE

It’s the magic
You walk into the seediest hole
The walls do actually talk
Look all around and faces so famous
Smile down telling tales
Tall but true, sad and blue

The waitress sets the glass down
In exchange for tender
The guy on the stage sings
Words for tips
To soothe your soul

Willie sat at the bar
Writing hits on a napkin
Selling the ballad for next months rent
Not knowing he would be a star

Kris walked in and shots rose in salute
From pushing brooms
To pushing tunes
He was one of the greats

The guy on the stage..
If he goes further it will be a blessing
To live this life is why he is out
Drop one in the tip jar
Thats what this place is all about

The Shrine Down The Hall

Photographer Ashley Gilbertson documented the rooms that loved ones left set up in their homes after their family members were killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan. The NY Times ran a photo essay on these. Click on the link to the right. Very moving and it makes you think of what others are feeling...forever.

Let It Shine!

OK, what’s up? I read an article the other day where it is estimated that we have 40-50 years max of fossil fuels left to keep us all warm and toasty cruising down I-95 at 85 MPH. And it is estimated that our beloved Sun has the potential of producing 5.5 million more years of solar power. OK, I wasn’t the best in Math class BUT the two numbers are, well, a bag-ass amount different to put it technically. Now, is it my uneducated guess that the rather large profit driven oil companies and all their mouthpieces residing in Washington might have something to do with the slow, expensive birth of solar usage both active and passive in nature? Another no-brainer right there folks. When are people going to wake up and start thinking about what we have done and continue to do to our fair Earth to be comfortable? Oh I know, we are providing jobs to thousands in fields such as coal, oil and other Earth raping jobs, well, shift technologies and we should be able to provide even more jobs more than likely higher paying to boot. Its gonna cost us folks, no doubt, but look what its cost us already..think about it.

Yet Another Freakin Blog...

OK, I know, another blog from this fool you say, yep. All the other ones I have are too damned specific..photography, Amateur radio, tracing your family roots. This one is for fun. Run my yap about what I think is right and wrong with this crazy world. From the halls of Congress to the backroads of Downeast Maine...I have enough ammunition to go on forever. Hold on..here we go.....
